Ghent University, abbreviated to UGent, is one of the major universities in the Dutch-speaking region of Europe. It distinguishes itself as a socially committed and pluralistic university in a broad international perspective.
Power-Link, the energy knowledge platform of Ghent University is the link between the corporate and the research world, supports fundamental and applied research in the matter of sustainable and renewable energy and stimulates innovation and implementation of energy technologies. Power-Link urges to rational, reductive and alternative energy use through its own high tech environment, Greenbridge. On this science park, concrete research and investment projects are demonstrated, such as small wind turbines, PV applications, alternative fuels & filling stations, electrical vehicles, smarttech in grid applications, etc.
Power-Link endorses and supports the striving for a CO2 neutral profile both of the Greenbridge incubator where Power-Link is located, as of the complete science park. Power-Link helps Greenbridge and the larger industrial area in the outer port of Ostend to contribute to the objectives of the Covenant of Mayors the city signed.
Ghent University is partner in the Interreg IVa projects Waterstofregio and ACE and the Interreg IVb project Energy Vision North Sea Region. They are also in charge of the communication of the Intelligent Energy Europe project EMPOWERING.
Within the SAFE-ICE cluster Ghent University Power-Link is responsible for the publication coordination and production as well as the cluster communication.
